Entry Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements
Students wishing to progress to Conyers Sixth Form must meet the academic entry requirements of five GCSE grades at 4 or above. Students’ GCSE results determine the type of programme they may follow. For students applying to named Level 3 technical programmes below, the specific academic entry requirement set out for those courses will apply
- Students achieving fewer than five Grade 6s will study three A levels or a Level 3 Technical programme.
- Students achieving six Grade 6s and four Grade 7s will study three A levels or a Level 3 Technical programme, and either Core Maths or the EPQ.
- Students achieving more than five Grade 7s may choose to study four A levels.
- Students achieving more than five Grade 6s must also select either Core Maths or the EPQ. Core Maths will be timetabled in an option block. EPQ will be timetabled outside the option blocks.
- Conyers Sixth Form does not enter students for AS examinations at the end of Year 12.

Course Capacity and Allocation
Students who meet the published academic entry requirements may progress to Conyers Sixth Form. Internal students who meet these requirements are already on roll at the school and are therefore not subject to sixth form admissions oversubscription criteria.
Some courses have limited capacity due to specialist facilities, staffing and health and safety requirements.
The maximum cohort sizes are:
- BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering – 20 students
- BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care– 25 students
Where more students request a course than there are places available, places will be allocated using objective academic criteria relevant to the subject.
Places will be allocated in the following order:
- Students who meet the published entry requirements for the course
- Highest GCSE grade in the published relevant subject for the course
- Highest average GCSE point score across relevant subjects
- Highest average GCSE point score overall
- Random allocation where students remain tied
For BTEC Engineering, the most relevant subjects are Maths and Science.
Students who cannot be allocated a place on their first choice course will be supported to select an alternative programme at Conyers Sixth Form where one is available. Students applying for oversubscribed courses must also identify a reserve choice in order to support the construction of a viable study programme.
External Applications
We will enrol a maximum of 30 external students into Year 12 each year. External applicants must meet the same academic entry requirements as internal students.
Students with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) naming the school will be admitted.
Where the number of external applicants exceeds the number of available places, places will be allocated using the following oversubscription criteria to determine entry.
- Looked after children and previously looked after children
- Siblings of students on roll at the school or in the sixth form at the time of application
- Distance from home to school, measured in a straight line in accordance with the school’s published admissions arrangements
Where two or more applicants cannot be separated by distance, random allocation will be used.
Once admitted to the sixth form, external students are subject to the same course entry requirements and course allocation processes as internal students.
