Curriculum Intent
WHOLE PE INTENT: To provide the opportunity for all students across the Trust, of all ages, to safely and effectively access a comprehensive range of curriculum based PE programmes that encourages participation in extra curricular activities both at school and in the wider community.
- A compulsory programme of activity. A design to -To enjoyment, learning, skills development accessing a range of activities, progress, engagement, fitness development, fundamentals of movement, understanding of mental and physical health, competitive awareness, resilience
- To develop a lifelong enthusiasm for physical, recreational and sport. To be ‘fit for life’ physically, and mentally. To equip students with the knowledge and understanding of ethics, safety, rules and challenges of organised sport and activities.

Year 7
Students will work on improving the quality of their skills.
Students will work on improving the quality of their skills with the intention of outwitting opponents.
Basic principles of attack and defence to use skills and strategies to outwit opponents.
Developing physical and mental capacity, developing skills/performance, making and applying decisions, making informed choices about a healthy active lifestyle, and improving
Year 8
Students will work on improving the quality of their skills, gaining greater accuracy and improved outcomes.
Students will work on improving the quality of their skills with the intention of outwitting opponents.

Students will work on improving the quality of their skills and game awareness with the intention of outwitting opponents.

Sequence Discussion
Year 7
Building on KS2 skills, skill development and game awareness to see how skills can be used or adapted. Also introducing the analysis of different situations in sport or how an opponent reacts, rather than just playing to a pattern.
Develop understanding through challenge (personal or group) during gameplay.
Fun games with different levels of challenge to consolidate skills and transfer learning between different sports. Significant focus on inspiring a love of sport, enthusiasm and fun.
Year 9
Game Awareness and decision-making, application of appropriate skills in more demanding and challenging situations. Develop tactics.
