Key Stage 4 Curriculum Map
Curriculum Intent
Art supports students to be able to show creative individuality through their research work, building on skills and knowledge. Personalising sketchbooks to show a journey of their developments and progression of their own abilities through exploring a theme.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Workshops are to develop knowledge of a variety of methods in the arts and crafts. Learning to discuss artist work through evaluating and analysing to learn the artist’s creative processes with materials and methods. The first project is Culture looking at art and cultural crafts from other countries. Researching artists and learning skills through teacher led workshops to build confidence and knowledge. To help students attain a standard to be proud of their achievements and to develop observational drawing and sensitivity within their work. To eventually learn independence to develop their own theme to prepare students for the exam.

Sequence Discussion
Students follow a rigorous programme of coursework, 2 units one based on Culture and Natural forms, working in sketchbooks and final pieces. This enables students to learn creative processes to meet the AO criteria for the course

India – Henna design, silk painting, printing workshops, Indian artists, Indian God
Africa – wraps, textiles and weave. Artists and a detailed pencil drawing through mark making and shading.

Africa – wraps, textiles and weave. Artists and a detailed pencil drawing through mark making and shading.
Half Term 3
Culture
Aboriginal-Looking at Aboriginal styles of working through painting and drawing. Frank Hodgkinson workshops.
Develop final piece for culture component.
Half Term 4
Natural Forms
To find 4 artists and produce a pic collage of natural forms. To take photographs and present all information in book.
Half Term 5
Natural Forms
To find 4 artists and produce a pic collage of natural forms. To take photographs and present all information in book.
Half Term 6
Natural Forms
To look at photograph development on App and Printmaking.
Year 11
